Was helped out by a forum member when I was in desperate need of a computer, and I am still in the same financial crunch as when that happened but now the fan is almost completely dead. It was whirring before but it's a bad, bad mechanical sound it's making now...
Someone please recommend a reputable, not-too-expensive place to get a powerbook g4 fan replaced. If you can do it yourself, I will happily talk to you regarding payment.
Please contact ASAP.
Oh god, I just read Superprecise's thread and I'm completely flummoxed now. I don't know what the crap is going on in there! There are multiple fans? Wait, that's a desk top. Maybe not. Anyway, after doing nothing differently, the fan calmed down and is quiet now. But still, it's an old computer and don't you sometimes have to replace fans at some stage? I know I had to do that with an old desktop PC.
