Ok, before I take everything apart I just want to check a few things.
Firstly Headset
Under heavy braking it seems to POP or Click just once, a sound that reverberates down the fork legs. Could this be due to a flattened bearing, or something more sinister. I have loosed the stem, and tighted the headset from the top. This sometimes remedies it momentarily but it always seems to come back
Any ideas?
Secondly Front Hub
Im pretty sure of the answer to this but ill ask anyway. The front wheel when spun off the ground, generates a considerable amount of vibration, the rim itself runs straight. But the vibration slows the wheel down fairly rapidly. Often as the wheel stops completely it almost sort of clicks into place. That is to say just as it seems to have stopped it moves an inch or so more (I hope that last bit makes sense.)
So anyway I have purchased a metric fuckton of 3/16" ball bearings, to replace. Is it likely that knackered bearings are at fault here.
