headset is one of a very few things I get shop to do for me. Assuming your kaga's got a standard 1" aheadset, have you had the headtube faced properly before? you might not need a new headset if the problem is in the head tube and not headset.

I thought he had it done at a shop. I also have a feeling the creaking isn't the headset but it obviously needs to be eliminated. I am not prepared to say at this stage what I think the problem is.

Mikes knees?

I have a press if you need to borrow. Do not have reaming and facing tools though

Thanks for the offer for help and advice. For all I know, the creeking could be due to cracked forks or something. Anyhow, I have never liked the headset and I am going to replace it regardless, so I will give everythig a thorough inspection when it comes to changing it

if you want to totally eliminate the headset you should get the headtube reamed and faced, crown race seat machined and faced.
broken_777 can do both these.

Probably best to call, they can get quite busy
In an ongoing mission to solve my creaking bike, I am going to purchase a quality headset. Are there tools at HH that I could use to install a new headset and anyone who could assist me. I was thinking of one Sunday training session in May.
Any help would be much appreciated
