ok.
this is going to be awesome you guys.
i got together with chris, who is going to be pivotal to this show, and we caught up on ideas and what nots and ins and outs. here is some info:space:
first challenge is finding a nice central location that can handle an estimated 2000 people passing through in one evening. this is based in previous shows in smaller cities reaching 1500 people in a night. a nice flow around the space is desirable. we're investigating things but i'd welcome suggestions and offers.artists:
we're penciling a show around september but its quite critical that any hopeful exhibitors get their ideas going now. we will be requesting all hopefuls to put forward a small portfolio of their work if not their poster idea. around 30 artists will be shown. we want this to encompass cyclist non-design types, design type who cycle and the gamut between.
now, the artist are required to supple their own prints and stock for sale. while this might sound scary to you now, you will be getting around 70-80% (approx at this stage, subject to change so bear with us). it may turn out that a few local screen printers come forward to help produce your stock, but at this stage, i urge you to not be deterred and start thinking, designing, drawing and snapping away.we are currently brain storming the rest of the show and will hit you all up for help as and when its needed. thanks for your interest, spread the word and we'll keep you posted.
thanks.

Grand.

A grand? For one measly poster? You guys are fucking dreamin'.
On a serious note: It's plain that 'non-designy types' are unlikely to happen to have a portfolio of work. I assume you would accept a poster submission without this, and consider it on its own merits?

indeed!

Thanks.
Mine's going to just say 'cyclists are cunts', in comic sans, in the rear view mirror of a car. It's irony.
