Hi, no doubt this will cause some controversy but anyways...when I started riding a road bike I knocked my riding partner off her bike twice by going into the back of her because I'm a useless twat who had no idea of how to ride in a chaingang….
fixed that for you Jimbo, the knock on your head must have affected your memory like
:^{)}

What about my 26x1.8 knobblies on fixed?
Is my hack bike currently X/fixed% less stable than a bike with smaller wheels and thicker tyres, or is it X/(26x1.8)% less stable than a fixed bike?
I'm not very good at maths, and I'm possibly X% more scared about riding than I was yesterday.

"I took a corner too quickly"
Mystery solved. Just concentrate on healing and try not to repeat error.

Bdw when did you crash into your riding partner?

Hi, no doubt this will cause some controversy but anyways...I used to ride hybrid with 26" wheels for many years but I recently switched to a fixed wheel at the start of the year. However, after a couple of months I took a corner too quickly and wiped out - landing on my thigh and breaking it. Looking back, I can't help but feel that it wouldn't have happened had I been riding my 26" wheeler. Now that I'm recuperating, I'm fearful about getting back on the fixed wheeler. Whatever anyone says, they're X% less stable than a bike with smaller wheels and thicker tyres.
Neg repped.

"thought I'd seen it all until tonight. Pretty girl riding home fixed, no brakes & flat ballet shoes."
That was Object.
Now this is funny.

"thought I'd seen it all until tonight. Pretty girl riding home fixed, no brakes & flat ballet shoes."did you say ought?

and sure, more rubber on the ground means more grip.
Oh dear. More surface area does not mean more grip.

did you say ought?
i said "what a fucking stupid bitch, the sooner these plebs get bored with fixie skidders and move onto yo-yo's or some other fad the better"

Yeah, skinny wheels are inherently unstable and dangerous. Best get in a car to be safe.

once the lid fell down mid barf when i was younger - i still have a bit of a flat spot on the back of my head from that and some t t t times trouble ssssss sp p p peaking. -

Oh dear. More surface area does not mean more grip.
trying my hardest to remember my physics, because altho the law you're thinking of is relevant, i don't think it's the only consideration...
the traction between your tyre and the road is dynamic, and the max coefficient of friction can occur at any point where the two surfaces meet. the greater the area, the higher likelihood of maximum traction. so fat tyres do give you a higher chance of better grip. altho strictly speaking you're right in absolute terms, just not including probability.
and then there is the instance where the max frictional force is higher than the structural integrity of the rubber in contact with the ground, causing the tyre to tear. i'm not sure whether this favours skinny or fat tyres. skinny are normally higher pressure, so the rubber is less likely to tear. fat have more rubber to tear.

Hybrid = Designed for old people, nice and stable (read slow)
SuperSweetFixieSkidder = Bike that may involve some thought when in use.It wouldnt have happened on your hybrid, but would you have been having nearly as much fun?
A bike with 700c wheels and skinny tyres corners in a completely different way to something with smaller, wider wheels/tyres.Dont give up! Back on yer horse old boy!

Hi, no doubt this will cause some controversy but anyways...I used to ride fixed with 700 wheels and 23mm tyres for many years but I recently switched to a nodder twat hybrid at the start of the year. However, after a couple of months I took a corner too slowly because of the fat fucking stupid tyres and fell off - landing on my head and breaking my brain. Looking back, I can't help but feel that it wouldn't have happened had I been riding my fixie. Now that I'm recuperating, I'm fearful about getting back on the dayglo nodder twat bike. Whatever anyone says, they're X% less fast than a bike with bigger wheels and thinner tyres.
So much hate in this one post.
...I love it! Hah!
Oi.
