I don't think Clegg has actually said he's looking for a coalition with Cons.. His point seems to be that Labour could end up with the smallest number of votes out of the three main parties but the most seats and thus are traditionally expected to try to form a government.
I agree, but a labour coming 3rd place is a real possibility. And he also avoided previous question about what consitututes a mandate, votes or seats, in a hung parliament. In this interview he was very clear. Labour coming 3rd would mean he would not consider it democratic to seek a coalision with them
