  • I don't know any bike shops, but the Oke Lodge Hotel on Okehampton Road was OK as a B&B when I stayed there for a training course. They were happy for me to put my bike in a storage room/office and although it was a little dated was generally clean and habitable. I'd stay there again.

    Cheers, I'll check it out.

    What route are you planning?

Still working on it. This is a draft for the first day:

I did a ride from the end of that ^ to Axminster last spring. It was 20 miles shorter, and had 1000 feet more climbing. So I'm happy with how it is right now (60 miles, 2500 feet, only two really big climbs, both the middle of the ride, one 5% stretch and one 6% stretch). Trying to avoid main roads (especially the A35) and too much climbing. Any advice appreciated.

Not sure if you mean you're staying in Exeter? If so look at the university for accommodation as they rent out rooms in the holidays.

I haven't actually done this I just happened to go there and know they do. I imagine they rent out the nicer halls and they are pretty decent.

Cheers, check it out, but it's term time when we'll be going.

Can't help Horatio but best of luck and I'd love to see some pictures of the ride.

Me too! Hopefully the Stoker will have lots of time to get some shots off :P
