EDIT: on that topic, the police got in touch with me on friday to update me, and it turns out the driver who hit me only had a provisional license, no learners plate on the car, and was uninsured! so he's pretty much fucked. i told him he should have just payed me , and not made me take it to the police.

this is darwinism in action. the idiot deserves it, he was fuckwitted enough to be driving like this, make a dangerous mistake, you offered him the easy option and he didn't take it. what did he think would happen? even if they ruled it was your fault, surely he'd still get fucked for the multiple illegalities of his status on the road.

just thought it might be of interest to those discussing rust vs clear coat on the last page.
ah ok. if anyone wants to buy some/the rest of the can after i have used it - pm me. it does about 3-4 frames i believe, it says on the can.

I managed to sort a frame out to replace the dead one.
My Viscount Grand Tour? beater.
Old canvas belt straps work surprisingly well ( yes i know im missing a bolt)Pretty terrible to look at but its a pretty solid and fun to hack about on bike.

Put that brake lever where its supposed to be, you silly cabbage.

A crappy dawes i found a while back which needed serious work to make rideable - never done any bike work before so an enjoyable learning curve. Planning a first ride tonight if the rain holds off - running a 50-18 ratio which may be a disaster on the ride back up the Holloway rd! Hammerite blue, wobbly riggida rims, hipster grips and poor braking...

you get hit while on a bike it's your cognitive fault. legally to blame or not. *if you don't think that now, you will change your mind the hard way. *end of. back on topic now... just traded my MTB for this Standard STA. The guy made away with quite a handful of very nice parts, but i was sick of staring at the fucking thing.
anyway gonna show it some love and start hitting the street.

looks very nice, indeed no nonsense. deserves a respray imo!
if the saddle is not complete sh*te, i'd love to take it to finish an old sports tourer
i might have some parts for you, will pm
Thanks Peter, but the saddle IS complete sh*te, otherwise I would have used it. Unicanitor is the ultimate saddle for this bike / this generation, of course.
This one however is ready for the "Kliko", unless you want to pay EUR 6,75 for something that can only be used completely stripped or completely renovated. But I guess you can find that also a bit closer.
Interested in your offer tho'. Someone going to sell an old bike with decent full Record componentry for EUR 200 to 250,- ? -

Hmm that sta's a fair age. Hope you didn't swap too much for it? That thing doesn't look like its worth much over £150

well aware dude. well aware. i just wanted the shit gone. It was an overbuilt hardtail. and I was not riding it... was never gonna take the time to sell it as parts.
he made out with some old Hayes, a nice fork (older sherman jumper) and a nice set of wheels. nothing else of much inherent value.
he felt kinda shitty, but i told him not to worry about it. it's his lucky day.

Just won this. Going for a classic look seeing as it has nice lugwork - any ideas where to get it painted? Asides from the Dovvles super-service, of course, I've heard there is a really, really long queue... and although armourtex are on my road, I think i want a nice contrasting lugs type job so powdercoat is prob out too

It's having silver dp18s on Miche hubs, and, er, that's all that's decided. Ideas on a postcard please...?
i used to work in the shop that is shown on that frame. will probably have belonged to a member of the ratae road club that the shop sponsored back then. can see if i can find more out for you if you'd like.

Seems a harsh thing to say to someone who was involved in an accident. Injured or not...
Unless you're trying to look like a bellend, I usually find it best to pipe down in these situations.

That paint job looks lovely. Think I'm going to pick up a cheap frame before long and build myself up something like this.
Actually quite like the idea of the eyelets in the back, so you could fit fenders/rack if you wanted.
