  • agree, if you h a v e to lock it out there, make sure it's not seen from the road, either with tarp or bamboo, cover it from the rain, lock it up more than you think is necessary and add an alarmed lock

I don't see any reasons why the thief's wouldn't come back tbh

Sorry if I sound arsey, but just don't want to read another stolen post from you

  • I had my folding bike stolen not too long ago, sinking feeling.

  • Find a clean and comfy hanger for your apartment, she has to see your economics as a couple.
If she doesn't she has to realize her gain on your shape - performance and psychology, if she still
denies to understand you have to reevaluate your relationship with someone that can't accept
    something so simple and sic...

check your side apartments for previous loss... a magnetic switch as an alarm can also helps a lot
with some nice u-lock but i 'm sure that can't help you living with someone so cruel..

  • The chrome clips are and should've been supplied with the bike, complete with clear sticky plastic to protect the paintwork underneath where they clamp onto the toptube. I'm guessing the mechanic who built it was in a bit of a hurry (or lazy) and opted for the quick and easy zip-tie method instead. Send me a pm with your address if you want the chrome clips and I'll stick a set in the post for you as we've got loads in the office.

Hi Alb, saw what you wrote above - thought i would add that my 2010 flyer also came with black zipties holding the rear cable outer (from wheelies.co.uk). They do look shit, and also the cable outer is not well secured with them and is itself damaging the paintwork on one side of the top tube where it is slapping around. If you're happy to extend your random acts of kindness to another stranger I would love to get the chrome clips, to see if they can improve this. tbh as i run it on the fixed side of the hub, I'l l be removing the rear brake at some undetermined point in the future when i can be bothered to mess about with changing handlebars or at least swapping the levers on current handlebars for a cross top lever, but until then I would love to have it set up in a way that is not going to damage the paint. ok if I PM you my address? If so let me know if you want anything for postage/hassle etc.

    Cheers
    Simon

  • I got mine from wheelies too...

  • Hey, this is my first post too. I have a 2008 Flyer, the white one with carbon forks. I love the new paintjob but would hate to ride with a steel fork. Get some new carbon ones. And I agree with everyone else, the scum will be back, probably incredulous that you have an even shinier prize on offer.

I've had 3 bikes nicked in total, so I don't underestimate their ingenuity, the little buggers. A few months ago, My Dahon Speed Pro foldie was locked up outside Bayswater Waitrose with a big New York D-Lock. They somehow dismantled the frame by the hinge joint and walked off with it, putting it back together at their leisure later. Lock was intact of course, I still use it.

Even if they can't make off with your bike, (unlikely if they have boltcutters), they'll wreck it in some way to take out their frustration. Seriously scratch the paint, rip up the bar tape/saddle or something.

Gotta find a solution man, you're a sitting duck. Good luck.

  • dude, use two different lock brands.. most lock pick thieves just carry one set of picks, play safe.
maybe get a heavy duty lock it its only used in that one spot..

  • No worries Simon, drop me a pm with your address and I'll get some out to you. I work for the distributor (Madison) so it's not too good to see some dealers neglecting to build them with the suuplied chrome clips.

The new steel fork actually rides comfier than the old carbon fork IMO - especially given the current state of the roads. Try having a spin on one if you get the chance, I think you'll be surprised. Sure it adds a bit of weight over the carbon fork but for 2010 we wanted to keep it @ it's £599 pricepoint whilst upspeccing the wheelset and chainset over the 2008/9 model. It was originally a cost-based spec choice but ended up working out really well in complimenting the ride.

  • I wouldn't bank on it, I had my Genesis Flyer nicked from Limehouse last week. Its was locked up with a series 4 Kryptonite and a New York, the bolt cutters went clean through them!

what? went through the New York?

    record it here: http://tiny.cc/stolenbike

and have a look here http://www.lfgss.com/thread27573.html

I'm sure people would be interested to know more.

  • Thanks Spybot.
I've reported it but can't view the thread you posted for some reason. Is it about a flyer or locking up? Cheers
