  • I have a fuji track that has been bare for over 6 months, i worked on it through the snowy winter and there is no rust on it whatsoever. I have never treated the frame with any clearcoat/laquer.

It's very strange, it is an 09 model. I presume it is shit tubing, 4130? Maybe some just dont rust.

And I have not treated it well. It has never been cleaned. I can't get my head round it

  • That is odd... maybe you got a batch of chromolly with loads of chrome in? That could stop is rusting...

  • Not so - plain guage steel frame tubes are typically at least 0.8mm thick, car panel work is usually less than that, which is why you don't see any flat planes on car bodies - the metal is so thin that it would wobble like a stage thunder sheet without compound curvature providing some stiffness.

Nah it was an old Datsun, it was 18 gauge which is roughly 1.2mm. My Morris Minor was about 2mm thick; you could stand on the roof without it flexing! It also had a centimeter of lead filler around the rear window apertures, but from the factory, not from repair!

You're right though, modern cars are typically 20 gauge (.8mm) or 22 gauge (.7mm), or very occasionally less. I'm doing a degree in vehicle design so I gots to know these things.

  • 531 basted then clearcoated

looks similar to my beater just a hell of a lot nicer, loving clear coat at the moment.

  • Awesome!

I would change the bars personally but that is one cool bike.

    What rims are those, Eingang?

  • campagnolo omega

  • looks better than max's

  • that canondale is Tiiiight!

  • there's this product called frame saver wich is supposed to curb the corrosion from the inside. i think it's worth considering. i haven't used it though.

  • finished. 8.17kg.

Fuck, that's a bit porky. My Koga is only 7.44 and it has a brake, tri-bars and a Goldtec chainring which weighs over 250g

  • good on you

  • nice work Sven!

  • That Cannondale looks loverly! What model is it and what year are they from? might look out for one on the bay. I'm guessing they come in other sizes besides XXXXXL.

  • cannondale track, build in 1992, size 63cm

  • the cannondale looks in much better proportion than the big blue farm gate that cruises slowly round west london

  • well, some people liked my starwars bike, some were fairly offended by it. either way, it's finished, and here is a photograph of it.

  • im likein the fork

  • Take off those HALO stickers!!

a new wheelset will hide those

  • Permanent marker makes short work of those unless you're looking up close.

  • do not write with a marker on your fucking bike. it's enough you put the name of a movie on it.

  • Brucy - do you live in peckham?
