Sounds dodgy.
Alter the chain line with a longer BB spindle and dish the wheel a bit?

Probably my best bet. As soon as I start taking that metal away it'll effect it's strength. 115mm bottom bracket on the shopping list then.

Are you running a 111mm Strada BB at the moment? If so, and you're willing to sell once you've got your 115mm BB PM me. Been looking for some road seals for my Pista BB...

For my last frame I had the lips milled off and clearances (between the chainstay and the back of the bolt) were tight, but just about OK. My new frame has no chainstay "dimple" so no clearance. chainline is fine.
How much is safe to mill off the back of the crank, currently I have about 4mm of metal left on the crank.
If it's a steel frame, any frame builder can make that dimple in the RH chain stay in less than 5 min.
Best is to remove BB set before you go and see one.
Really a piece of cake and very safe, especially if the builder has a alignment jig/table/device ... -

That's another option, I've ordered a new bb for now, but if no luck I'll certainly consider that. Are the pistas counterbored for the back of the chainring bolts?

I have a beginners question that might as well go in here:
When you put a pista chainring on a strada crank, does the extra thickness of the track chainring mean that it doesn't sit flush with the spider arms? Or is the extra thickness only in the teeth and not in the bit where the bolt holes are?I don't mind using a strada crankset as long as I don't have to alter it to make it work.
