  • you like it quite a lot then?

  • I'm an outmoded 40 year old twat. Do I win £5?
no you win fuck all, but well done for keeping a sense of humour through tough times

  • I'm an outmoded 40 year old twat. Do I win £5?

Get to the back of the (long) queue...

  • I think it looks shit AND uncomfortable. useless shite. if anyone wants some german flag stuff its been kicking round my room since the euro's, you're welcome to it.

I agree. But I can see why certain people like it.

  • max will have it he looks a bit....er....german

  • I'll 'ave you, sunshine.

  • Wait til you see my haircut, Ved. I look über German.

  • ahhh fuck...what have you done.

does your father know about this?

  • I know no father. Only mein führer.

It's just really short, I dig it. Long hair was a pain.

  • Well, if no one else will say it, Benotto tape is not uncomfortable, you're all just a bunch of ergo bar loving pansies.

I have used it for 4 hour+ rides without issue (that's as much as I do, not into distance). HT...

  • Its at the lower end of the comfort spectrum. Right next to untaped bars.

  • It depends what you call comfort. Some people call a gel cushion saddle comfort, whilst I call a hard racing saddle, such as the SLR, comfy.

    Horses for courses, my friends.

  • Just wear gloves.

Whether you start wrapping from the top or bottom, if you insist on using Benotto plugs, they go under the tape.

    Sorry Ved

  • How can anyone seriously claim that this stuff is comfortable? You might as well sellotape your bars.

Its at the lower end of the comfort spectrum. Right next to untaped bars.

    Exactly correct!

  • if your fingers go numb doesnot that indicate your bike isnot set up properly?

  • my vote is take it to a bike shop and let them deal with it!

  • Many a tour racer have finished looong races on this stuff. Classic. A must for certain restorations. Takes skill to wrap for sure!

  • I like it. My hands don't notice whether bars are padded or not, so stuff that wipes clean is good.

  • Love that Sturmey lever clamped over that cello tape! Sweet!

  • You don't need electrical tape, it ruins the effect IMO.

    ?

  • I don't know how people can moan about the Benotto tape when half of you lot turns up to drinks with raw shiny pista bars. Bunch of pansies.

  • I rather like my Benotto tape. It's not that uncomfortable, and with padded gloves it's fine.

For what it's worth, I started at the top and worked down. I secured the top with a single wrap of double-sided tape under the Benotto tape (though it's probably unnecessary) and the ends with some screw-in rubber bar plugs. I was amazed that it sticks, and found it really useful being able to unwrap it and start again. Thankfully I did not need to play with matches.

  • I never had any problems with this - magic in silver translucent and goes with any colour scheme except possibly a silver frame Snag is getting this silver - it's been described by sellers as white, grey and silver - even silver and grey in same pack ! I've used it - it looks silver translucent once on an alloy bar - easy to fit with patience.

  • I agree with Teetee. Wear padded mitts....chamois palms of course....If I hear gel once more..........!!!

  • Can anyone clarify this silver translucent dilemma -I purchased a load of tapes jus toget silver - it was grey and duller than grey insulating tape !!
