Pot holes on the bristol road

Posted on
  • got my new bike today...rode to town down bristol road from selly and fuck me there are so many pot holes on that road, wasnt long before i had a puncture outside of the 24 hour tesco on the way back. not even an hour out of the bike!

  • There are lots of potholes everywhere in Birmingham, apparently as a result of the snow. Or perhaps as a result of our roads being built so poorly that they can't withstand a bit of cool weather. Apparently council tax is going to increase £30 per year to pay for pothole repairs.

Leighton Buzzard is even worse, bare potholes everywhere.

  • Council tax is not increasing this year.

  • For Birmingham residents or across the whole UK? Where I live is the Smethwick side of Bearwood, so we pay council tax to Sandwell council, not Birmingham council. She could have been talking about Leighton Buzzard residents TBF, I wasn't paying attention.

  • i think all council tax is frozen, but i may be mistaken.

  • Heres a link to the birmingham council site, you can report potholes and apparently they will 'investigate' within 5 working days. ...If they'll actually do anything who knows. It also means trying to pinpoint every bloody damn hole in the road but hey if we all complain it might get sorted.

  • A chap called Chris who works at Sprocket reported certain potholes to the council and they were gone within a week - defo worth reporting.

  • I've done this too in the past and its been successful.

  • I reported some 3-4 weeks ago, got a reply about a week after reporting, but no action has been taken. The areas have not even been marked up with paint.

The council claim that dangerous faults are repaired within 24 hours and life-threatening within 2 hours.

Can some of you lot report Bradford Street Please? It permanently has a terrible surface which can be dangerous or uncomfortable and damaging to wheels at the very least.

  • i just reported the ones on bristol road from frankie and bens all the way down to the lights at dean road near the art shop. nearly came off on the one at the lights.

  • i followed the link for the pot hole thing on the council website (thanks for putting it up)...rode past a bunch of council workers looking at some of the pot holes i told them about...so hopefully they will be fixed...got this back...
