Yeah, I was thinking: 6 months (maximum): September 1st to February 28th. All fixtures announced at once. Aggregated standings against number of games played.
(But let's keep looking at all the options.)
I don't think this is the way to go. It's easy to game your fixtures this way. I think Gabes' suggestion is the way to go, especially if we split the league, and finish with play-offs etc.

Such a league would also take 38 weeks to complete.
I guess I was think that we were going to split the league into 2!

I'm not convinced that forfeits will help anything (inaccurate league standings plus winging polo players).
People are always going to whinge. The only way to keep everyone happy all of the time is to brain-wash them all using a wonder drug, with a catchy name like 'Soma', seperate them into Alpha, Beta & Theta leagues and then...

Don't split the league! surely we can think of better ways to get the league done in a shorter time frame.
I love the 2 x 10 min idea, plus the 'league nights'. Also worth thinking about releasing a few fixtures at a time instead of being restricted to playing just one certain team that week/fortnight.
^these are the ways to get games done rather than 2 divisions preventing some teams playing others.

Yes, we could release 3 at a time, and possibly try and group them together to maybe 4 teams have to play each other in each fixture release period?

^ I like this idea.

I think 8 min is too short. What about two chukkers of 10 each?
Fixed.

If we have a 20 team league next year, that means 10 matches a week. 10 X 29 = 200 mins of league polo (not including change-overs), which is doable without eating into throw-in time.
But can we get through 1 game per team per week?

I think one of the biggest problems of the league this year was the change from fortnightly to weekly fixtures. After about the fourth or fifth fixture some teams were struggling to keep up.
I would really like to go back to fortnightly fixtures and just have a longer league / shorter games / one game per fixture.
For me the weekly fixture meant less time for throw-ins, which meant the only time I was playing with some people was competitively - I didn't have as much time playing alongside people I wouldn't normally just for fun.

What i would really like to see next year, is a trophy, silly i know but i'm traditional.

There's still time for someone to make one.

i've had a word with 'someone' but you know he has a life too.
