Yes, it fucks traffic right across to the IMAX at Waterloo, where it combines with the roadworks on the Bridge to cause full on gridlock. You can't even give up and walk across Waterloo Bridge because there's no pavement North-bound at the moment ffs.
I know, wank!
All you get is tits trying to undertake and overtake you on the bridge when everyone's stuck behind buses travelling at 2mph!
There's gonna be a punch up on there soon -

They are frequently not respected by the police themselves. I would have enjoyed being given a ticket this morning. I would have fought it.
Clive, I have been pondering doing a FIA request to find out how many times in the last year a motorist has been penalised for being in an ASL. If, as I suspect, the answer is approximately zero then there are a few journalists I know who would be interested.
What do you think of the idea?

There's gonna be a punch up on there soonThey need to paint the road markings back on immediately, its totally neglient that 2.5 lanes of bus/car/cycle traffic are allowed to doodle about at whim, especially when there's no concensus on where bikes should be either (yesterday most cars left room away from the barriers on the outside for bikes to pass, but today the only place to pass was a 10ft wide space down the centre of the two lines of cars', which is basically a crush injury waiting to happen when someone decides to over/undertake without looking)

As soon as I get past the Imax I take my D lock out of my back pocket and ride the bridge like that.. Ready to swing.. As it were..

I came through the new road layout at New Cross twice today. Its supposedly finished, but I'm sure no cyclist will think so.
There is NO space for cyclists to filter safely from one lane to another. One has to depend on the kindness/consideration of the drivers behind and next to you.
Going straight up from New Cross to Peckham is now simpler.....just keep to the far left. But one has to be cycling between cars for the right turn that leads from New Cross towards the OKR.
The road surfaces are the worst "finished" surfaces I've ever seen in a developed country. Maybe others who might be using this junction from tomorrow can give their thoughts? Maybe I've got it wrong...

fixed.

And what about the planned Tube strike? Boris is beckoning ALL London cyclists to buy bikes, or dust off their old bikes, get the tyres sorted, and cycle to and from work. Should noobs to show assertive cycling skill?
I didn't have a problem. I cycle through there all the time, day and night. But the lack of cycle lanes is surprising, as all the way from Lewisham to that point, there are cycle lanes. Then nothing....right at the junction, and through both branches off it. It struck me as a bit bizarre.
Sadly I anticipate that area may become an accident hotspot.

safety in numbers

With cycle lane, an inexperience cyclists never know that trusting his life on it is the last thing he should do.
and Tommy quite rightly said, safety in numbers (which work extremely well today on the Skyride's guided ride.

Maybe I should have provided some photos to illustrate the layout.
With all respect, I'm not really sure what safety in numbers means in this case. Its South East London we're talking about, and I don't understand how groups of cyclists would coordinate their rides so that they cycle together. If however what Tommy meant, is that the more cyclists that go through that junction, the more drivers will become gradually aware of them - then I concur. Otherwise, most times I cycle through there, its all by myself, and the other cyclists I see are solo also.
Its gone from a really safe place to cycle through, to a challenging one. Its like cyclists were forgotten 200 yards back....just before the Bus Garage....on the way north. If I were a betting man, I'd bet the layout is to eventually be changed again, to take cyclists into consideration.

It's a guided ride, not that skyride event in central london.

Doesn't seem like the guided rides covers South East London though.
But mainly, I was only trying to say, that the new road layouts have made things worse for cyclists, not better.
I wasn't thinking only of the Tube Strike, but in the months and longer, going forward. Sorry if I wasn't making it clearer. -

Just when you thought it was safe to try London Bridge northbound again, now they've re-opened Tower Bridge, you wrong. Down to one lane at North end due to construction, gridlocked and very difficult to filter through, lots of revvy angry motorbikers too.
