"Radio commentator, Mr. A. Green, was commentating at the match between the Liverpool Football Club plc and the West Ham United Football Club plc. In his commentary, following remarks made by the previous incumbent of the commentary position apropos the large number of vacant seats within the stadium, Mr. Green stated that "they'll all be on their way to Madrid".

The seating capacity of the Anfield Stadium is, I believe, 45,400. The attendance the other night was a shade under 37,700, very creditable for a televised fixture on a weekday given the lockdown of UK airspace. So, why did Mr. Green choose to accord the absentees the status of travellers?

His position is all the more puzzling given that, out of their allocation of 2,500 seats for their forthcoming tie with Athletico of Madrid, the Liverpool Football Club plc managed to sell somewhere between 1,500 and 2,000. Of those, a representative of the Football Supporters Federation (and a supporter of the Liverpool Football Club plc) said that he would be "surprised" if more that 500 supporters actually attended the tie.

This means that 7,200 supporters are unaccounted for, if Mr. Green's assertion is correct"
