So... it's now £605 + VAT for a Super Vigorelli frame & forks in Reynolds 631.

£710.88.

I know they're really nice and made by cuddly uncles with moustaches and all, but when a 631 Bob Jackson Vigorelli is £375...

If you can make a high quality made-to-measure frame out of a 631 tubeset, with an enamelled paint job of matching quality for less than £1000, and also manage to pay your rent with the profits, I'll buy one off you.

Hey, I'm just saying it's a big difference in price. No doubt the Mercian's a nicer frame, and of course custom geometry doesn't come cheap.

I'm just bitter because I made an enquiry last week and discovered the waiting list's up to 5 months and the price has gone up by £117.50... Supply and demand in action.

I could make you a made-to-measure frame for £999.99 as long as you don't mind gaffer tape instead of lugs. That's cool, right?

Why anyone would buy a Mercian when you can have an Edisons for less is beyond me.

Edisons doesn't have an ounce of the attitude of Mercian, and the frames are a match in quality for any other custom builder anywhere. You never hear of him because he doesn't advertise, but that's because he doesn't have to.

And before you ask, I've nothing to do with him commercially. No freebies for me!

i don't think that mercian have an attitude. they are lovely guys and they do fuck up sometimes but they will sort it out no probs
