I wondered about that, but given the left handed lever and the picture angle, it may not be as tight as it looks in that image. In fact, if you look at http://fixedgeargallery.com/2010/apr/1/Grahamwebster/Grahamwebster-1.jpg you'll see that it's snug but not actually taut
