  • Have to say, BTL, that your sale threads up to now are a bit ... how can I put this? ... bossy. Why on earth can't you get a picture of what you're selling before you sell it? Why on earth can't people correspond on the thread? It's an open and honest way to deal with people, transparent ... loike.

There's nothing in the 'rules' about doing is this way. But I feel that you're perhaps missing something essential, a nuance if you like, about how and why this forum is such a loving, vibrant, exciting and wonderful place. We do things differently here. We trade because we can! We don't have to. We do it differently cos we really do dig each other.

Just sayin'. Cos I like you, and I somehow feel responsible for/to you, having approached you that day on the cut to talk about bicycles.

    Your friend
    Skully

  • ^+1
this boy has a way with words

  • Also, dibs and discussion should be kept to the thread. It means we have an open and honest history of peoples interest, rather than all this cloak and dagger PMs ONLY! business that can get confusing and lead to disappointment and beef.

And if you're going to use LFGSS exclusively to sell stuff, at least chuck a few quid the forum's way.

  • Yeah, that's what I was saying. There's no rule that we have to do that, but i think it has a certain democracy about it ... keeping things clear and open. In the end, though, sellers should always sell to whom they want. If someone pisses them around, sure, move on to the next interested party.

Like I said, this is how we roll.

  • I should add that the frame sounds nice. Good luck with the sale BTL. I hope you will accept my criticism in the manner in which it's intended...

Length of TT and some other details, like pipwish mentioned the ends, would be cool too.

  • Yes guys, I know it makes sense.

As Skully knows tho, I'm currently moving between my place in York, (hence the clearout of project bikes), and my boat in London. Thus I have very sporadic internet access at the moment. That is the only reason ive asked for PM or text dibs.

I suppopse my exasperation has come out a couple of times, when people have been disappointed at being out-dibbed by an unseen texter, and when ive got back online and found more dibsers after the item has gone. Maybe my decision to take transactions offline wasnt the cleverest!

All i can say is "Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible"!

My grumpyness also shows that I ran a shop for 4 years before this. It turns one into a cross between Basil Fawlty and Bernard Black!

I'll try to keep business online in future, though that might slow it all up a bit.

And cheers Skully for your costructive points. Hope to catch up in RL next weekend.

  • OK, for the lucky winner and others interested. The dropouts are Campag-type with adjustable stops and gear (is that a swearword here?) hanger, (its a road/tour frame remember), dropout width 130mm,
I was mistaken about height, it's 22 1/2 " not 23. Top tube is 22" centre-centre. Undibs if thats no good.
Fork offset is 50mm. Why do most people not ask that? it's critical to handling.

Braze-ons are as can be seen in photos. The full set basically, including pump peg, so no brakeless conversion here!

Sorry for the shabby coat of primer, which i gave it for protection cos its bee stripped to bare steel.

  • I like the shabby primer.
Looks a lot like verdigris to me.

    Thanks for not being offended!

    Good work. Carry on, Basil.

Advice: Press return (as I have there in the quote^) between large images so our viewers don't suddenly go really wide...

    Now I'm nit-picking.

Hope the moving all goes to plan.

Nice tourer that, I'd love it. Tempted!

  • Here's my own example of the exact same model.
    Skully's seen this bike.

not sure where in line i am but dibs! and ill drop you a pm

  • undibs this mate. good luck with the sale

  • Nice! And good price. Tis the time for getting your tourer sorted. Had I not finished mine already I would be all over this. Here's mine all finished in case anyone's interested.
