Wanted: 31.8mm flat bar!

Finding it harder than I'd thought to come across something that isn't oversized! Replacing the drops on my Langster, so if anyone wants to sell me a flat bar/ buy my drops/ trade I'm all ears!

Hey, what size is the seatpost clamp on a langster? Is it 31.8 or 28.6?? Thanks...

shim to 25.4? sounds dangerous though, I wouldn't. get a new stem?

hey Lord - do you mean seatpost clamp or handlebar width? seatpost clamp is 27.2mm, handlebars are 31.8mm.

I fear I might be showing my colours as a newb, but what relevance is the shim to 25.4 too? should I not be using the same stem for a straight bar/riser if I'm replacing a drop bar?

In fact, I think I understand the shim proposal kboy! my post reads as if I need a flat bar thinner than 31.8mm, though by "oversize" I actually meant in length! i think that's why you suggested a shim right?

there's two, or three, sizes of handlebar clamp areas, and therefor stems.

25.4, 26.0 and 31.8

25.4 and 26.0 is interchangeable if needs be, but should be avoided (someone more knowledgeable please correct me if I'm wrong)

31.8 is a more modern standard

You can get shims that will make a 31.8 stem clamp a 25.4 bar, but I don't know how safe it actually is

Stems go for less than fivers on ebay though if you're not picky, or as you say find an oversized riser / flat bar. there's loads of cheap 25.4 bars on the bay too, and often here as well
