Worth noting that there's lifetime warranty too on all Blackburn products
Pity the lifetime of their front lights is measured in minutes and if you're lucky, hours.

i broke the fitting for my blackburn 3.0 on the first day of using it, but after getting a replacement it held well for a year.
However, be sure you push the light in really well into the bracket each time, as it would just slide off when riding lots of times. Threw it out last week finally as it stopped working after all these tumbles.Got these now http://www.simpsoncycles.co.uk/product.php?xProd=527
AMAZING !
I don't leave house without my lights for good few years now, but have never had anything like these babies before. Even the pedestrians complain that they're too "flashy".
The flash pattern is very "urgent", and i have noticed a big difference how fast i am noticed now.
Completely exceeded my expectations, especially the rear.I'm renewing my lights at the moment, and I've just purchased this (front) light, but from Wilkinsons.
It comes in a set called the "high beamer" and costs a tenner. Comes with a shitty rear light too, which you could clip on your bag or something.
The font light is good and bright, but feels a little cheap. I've sprayed mine (I bought 2) black, and I'm mounting them either side of the stem for that stealthy lookI thoroughly recommend getting down to Wilkinsons and buying a set, even if they're only spares. For a tenner they're a bloody bargain

Just lost my Cherry Bomb, fell off my bag.
My cherrybomb fell off earlier this evening while clipped to my saddlebag. Trivial feature makes big difference.
Happened to me too not long after I praised it. WAC. I wouldn't recommend it if you like to have your rear light on your bag and you go to busy pubs. On the seat post bracket it's fine.
Was it just the light/battery part that fell off or the whole thing? I use elastic bands to secure lights to bags but this one just popped off the clip bracket thingy. Balls...

It unclipped from the tag thing on my saddlebag. To be fair it was temporary and probably could have been better secured - the tag loop was very tight. Usually I clip it on my bag: I punched two holes in the flap and looped a zip tie through it, then clip the cherrybomb to the outer loop of the tie and roll a stack of rubberbands onto the light clip so it can't bounce off. It has never fallen off in that scenario.

some bag are tight, some bag are loose, the only solution I can find is to use sellotape to hold it on, not exactly a removable solution, but the best secure one so far.

If you use Gaffer you can remove it and re-apply a few times. A thin strip around the clip works fine with my Smart rear on Grobag.

New front setup courtesy of Wilko's. They're hella bright, and I'm sure it'll look even meaner when I change over to bulls.

ohh nice, what are they?

See my above post. They're from the Wilkinson "highbeamer" light set. £10 each (with a free rear light), sprayed black.

Tidy! Do you need some kind of enamel to keep the spray paint from cracking and peeling off the plastic?
My housemate shone one of those lights in my eyes by accident the other day and it was dazzling. With two I reckon cars will be able to see you from space!

The much recommended Smart light set is now even cheaper here...
(the cheaper versions don't have the 1/2 watt rear)

Na, just sanded up the surface with some 240 first to key it, then over it with normal car spray paint.

BTW that front smart light is fucking gash.
Rear is excellent though.

Lumicycle FTW.
I use a 20w mid for everyday commuting, lights up the whole road. I also have a 35w spot that's like a frikking laser beam...It's set at wing mirror height for filtering between cars, people get out of the way because they assume I'm on a motorbike.

Are these any good?
http://www.topeak.com/products/Xtras/BarXtender
Oversized bars with aero tops are not great for mounting lights etc.
Would this be any better http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Proline-Proline-Space-Adaptor-Handlebar-Mount-Accessory-Bracket-8461.htm
Everything I have read about the minoura space grips, suggests that they are shit, is this true?
-
• #694
The Space Grips can be OK, but they'll only take so much weight. The Swing Grip variant seems to get the most flac, and the Topeak Bar-X-tender seems to be one of the more solid of the type. I've had the Bar-X-tender loose it though, when a bit too overloaded with a couple of heavyish lights (An Exposure Race Maxx and an Exposure Joystick).
The SJS one you linked to looks like it's probably reasonably solid, so long as you want things mounted above and below, rather than side by side.

Has anyone used this or there maglite led conversion?
I've used a minimaglite as a bike torch before - not amazingly powerfull but bombproof.

After weeks of sitting on the side half finished, I finally finished of my lights. The Electronics was easy but fabricating the case turned out to be a right hassle working from my desk vice, turned into a bit of a cock up TBH. Usable but looks retarded due to having to a bad time cutting clamping and drilling with minimal tools. looks bright though will test soon.
A feature so common on other electronic devices that it has a name.
