Fratello update - turned up on Gumtree, sold onto someone, who then had it stolen again (and then found me on the other forum and got in touch). Bike now has black tape and possibly a pannier.
Watch out for "John" or "Graeham", last on on 07 800 8056 34, on Gumtree. A teenager in Swiss Cottage who seems to have a lot of bikes to sell. Shame (but not surprisingly) police aren't interested.

Just had an interesting couple of hours. Stix rings me in a panic an hour ago - that someone had put their lock through her bike on a quiet side street in Balham. MOC being an owner of a large set of bolt cutters and not wanting to miss the opportunity of using them especially on his birthday, accompanied me to her location.
When we got there, the owner of a BMX had put an oxford chain lock very clearly through stix's bike - but here's the weird thing - he didn't lock his own bike at all, it was like he missed putting it through his frame completely. Anyway Stix had by this point called the Police and the Fire Bridgade who were unwilling to help, and Brixton Cycles who didn't have any cutters, she'd knocked on all the doors on the street to try and find out who owned the BMX but had no joy.
Needless to say MOC's cutters went through the chain fairly easily - but to give the owner the benefit of the doubt, we cut it right near the end (it was like a fagh chain and had a mini dlock securing it) so he's only lost a couple of links on the chain and can still use the lock. I then repositioned the chain around his bike so it looked like it was locked, he'll prob be rather confused when he comes back to his bike if he was legit, I was tempted to leave a 'better luck next time fuckwit' note but thought better of it.

STOLEN :-(
As above, but with very distinctive green Deda bar tape and flat pedals.
Specs: Ridgeback Solo World fixed gear, 700x28c wheels with Specialized Armadillo tyres, Deda green bar tape, thin "carbon effect" rear mud guard. Frame number: M8071998 / BB0139
Stolen today (Sat 17/04) from the central reservation of Shaftesbury Avenue at Cambridge Circus just outside the Med Kitchen cafe on the east side of the junction, between 14:00 - 17:30. Locked but obviously not enough...
The criminal must have been in full view of everyone dismantling the locks during the daytime in the middle of the road. He kindly left my helmet hanging on the railings.
First time this bike was ever locked up outside of my house/work/gym. Will keep a look out on Gumtree / eBay, is there any point going to Brick Lane with the certificate from Immobilise or will I just get stabbed if I find it and try to get it back??

Just had a call from a friend on Englefield Road, he's just seen a sketchy looking dude, hood up, dirty tracksuits, riding unclipped/dangerously on a dark blue/purple frame, black trick forks, risers and gold deep section rims.
Anyone lost/heard about anything?
i had my bike stolen from hertford road (off engelfield) on thursday night / friday morning. The poor unfortunate took it even though I'd taken the front wheel in to my girlfriends flat for the night (she loves it)..... It's all so sad.
Also had someone offer me a cannondale bad boy in hackney about 3-4 weeks ago

Similar story to Clefty and Stix. Last summer I came out of the dentist on Edgeware Road to find that a third lock had been added to my bike. Police told me they would do nothing, that I had to sort it out myself (perhaps not always there to serve the public, then?) so I rang my dad who turned up 45 minutes later with a big duffel bag full of tools. We were just pulling the jack out of the bag when this guy in the house opposite the railings ran out shouting “no no” and unlocked it.
“You can do one of two things,” my dad said, “either punch him in the balls or say thank you.”
In retrospect, I should have chosen the former.Anyway, it turned out he considered a set of railings outside his house to be his property despite the fact they are lining a public footpath and are clearly there as some sort of precaution against traffic. Some people have seriously weird ideas.

Sounds like the council took your bike, they have a habit of chopping off bikes and leaving notes that get blown away - they have some by law that lets them remove the bikes as they could be bombs.. might be worth checking with the local plod and council

I've seen this bike (or very similar looking) in clisold park yesterday (sunday) around 16-17, guy had velcro staps on the pedals, but did't used them, what it was intresting way to do it :)
maybe it's a same guy you saw, huge tracksuit bottoms on, but didn't had a hood on, so he had very short blond or ginger-ish hair, pretty young looking too. -

Good suggestion, I phoned up Westminster council but they said that when they sticker a bike they leave it for 24 hours before removing it. So it can't have been them in this case... I've also reported it stolen on Immobilise so if the police do find it they should contact me. Guess the next point of contact is the insurance company...

there is a guy from bethnal green with 4 bikes for sale on gumtree all different and none mentioning that he has other bikes on sale, seems strange. One he said he bought from a friend at a bike shop recently so i guess he should have receipts.
Anyone lost a cannondale road bike or a black fixie?

Might be barking at the wrong dog but lack of detail suggests dodgy on this, unless it's a Create with new bits but the frame looks half decent to me....

i saw a dodgy/chavy looking guy yesterday lock up a possibly stolen bike on kingsland road near the organic cafe. Black frame, risers, with a green saddle and matching grips. purple deep V's with purple hubs and pink halo tires. Anyone?

Someone I know had his bike nicked on Friday night, Kingsland Road (surprise), I directed him here but don't know if and when he'll post.
It's a smallish steel lugged frame, mint green, no decals, drops with white Fizik tape, white saddle (possibly Rolls?). Not sure if FG or SS... That's all I remember from seeing his bike locked near mine at work. I think he tried Brick Lane, Gumtree etc.
Hopefully he'll post a picture here and give more info. -

I saw a bike in the back of one the council collection trucks (the ones that pick up furniture etc from the street) going down Mile End road today. It was a peugeot, just like this one

I was talking to someone at college about there new bike. I was shocked when he said that he had stolen the saddle, WTF! The saddle in question is a Brooks B73 One of the heavily sprung ones and i also know he took a 25mm seatpost with it as well. I have just got a new brooks myself and i was sitting with a friend who had her brooks laden bike locked next to his bike. Needles to say we both gave him a mouthful.
If anybody knows of someone who has had a B73 stolen let me know i'm shore i can persuade this idiot to give it back. I do know him fairly well so i can probably find out where he took it from and make him remorseful enough to correct his ways. -

I saw a guy on a white Raleigh racer going down Victoria St/Parliament Square/Whitehall today who was suspiciously way too large for the bike. I may be paranoid, but if you have lost such a ride with untaped/gripped drops (which were at a very jaunty angle) I have footage of the rider.

sorry to hear about your loss man
You just can't use a bike like that as a commuting bike in London. Can only have something flash as a secondary ride to take out and bring home again....
Thanks, and I know.. but am unable to store two bikes at home and needed something spesh for a trip so chanced it.. oh well. Sounds like insurance will cover this one so have bought an identical replacement, and a better lock.
ah crap, notting hill gate at that time of night can be a little sketchy, especially with a shiny new bike like that.
don't forget brick lane et all on sat.
