brilliant.
i know it's an early start, but i'd get a similar amount of sleep if i camped. i hate the outdoors for sleeping. lions. tigers. bears. beetles. rabbits. -

So who is up for this [Live in London - work in Southampton]?

• #158
RIGHT:
a call to arms:
is anyone else looking to get an early (terrifingly so) start to the IOW? I will be returning on the day.
You need to be on the same train (there and back) for a groupsave return.
so far it appears that the next groupsave was:
1) damo
2) non-forum friend of Wools
3) Dropout
4)I'd been holding-off until I'd guaranteed Sun 2nd off work.
As Cornelius Blackfoot, Greasy and others said upthread, this was a cracking jaunt last year.
Big forum turnout should make for a nice group pic at the Black Gang memorial bench:

I'm planning to ride down on Saturday morning, stop over at my mums place in Lymington, then ferry over to Yarmouth on Sunday morning.
Anyone got a route from London to the New Forest?
Should end up with about 180 miles over the weekend, good training for the Vatternrundan.

That's cheating! Anyway 5am results in more sitting and drinking beer after the ride time (sdbart).

No problem! You can start any time from 9am so I guess we will be aiming to leave the campsite shortly after then (checkpoint at the site so start from your tent pretty much).
I'm hoping we can get the campers to the Bembridge checkpoint in time to meet those popping over for the day so we can have a decent sized group. -

as i said earlier today jayjeebus, i don't need as much beer to get pissed. therefore, later start.
or, i'll just have to get round faster and meet you at the pub, at the same time as you.

Sold.
The travel cost appears to be £38pp currently. Joe/Matt, can you PM me to confirm that is ok, and I'll book tonight.
Depending on bike-space availability, I'll try to get us on the same train as kattiep's group.

I'll be doing this geared on my recently finished Holdsworth. Can't wait
Camping over in Freshwater after getting the Lymington or Keyhaven ferry to Yarmouth. Hopefully I'll meet some of you on the day.
Anyone got a route from London to the New Forest?
Sasmon, I went to school in Lymington, and my folks are still down that way. I've not yet cycled from London, but there is a London - Bournemouth route which I would consider using when (if?) I decide to do it...
http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=85252
(from http://www.london2bournemouth.co.uk/)I would probably cut down through Minstead, and Brokenhurst to get to Lymington. If you try it let me know how the route panned out for future reference!

I will be staying with my daughter in Wootton Bridge before and after the ride. If anyone staying at Kitehill prefers to leave their gear at the house rather than on the camp site on the day of the ride, please let me know.
5:02 - that's gonna hurt, I'm afraid I might be so shagged by the time I got there I'd just fall off my bike :-(
