SoperRiva - am interested in why you are so insistent on filing the axles -is it just 'cos it's easier?
The OP seems to have a similar frame to the one I did - old 531 designed for Sturmey hub. Filing the dropouts was really easy & I'm pretty sure given the amount of metal there that I'm not in danger of anything snapping as I probably only shaved off about 1mm. It was just the very ends that needed filing & as I said it took about 20 mins - the majority of which was offering up the axle to the dropout to check how much I'd shaved off each time.
I just reckoned that if I did it that way once done I wouldn't have to think about it again if I wanted to swap the hubs/wheelset.
