Concorde were material supplier/sponsor for the 80s/early 90s PDM Concorde pro cycling team. They gained many victories including the 1988 TdF with Pedro Delgado. Other riders who raced for PDM Concorde were Breukink, Theunisse, Rooks, Kelly, Alcala among more. In '91 they left the tour due to the intralipid affair.
The Aquila was one of the top of the line offerings you could get. Tubing for the frame offered is SL, SLX or TSX. Overhere an early 90s catalogue that specs TSX for the Aquila >> on page eight
The frame shows sophisticated build quality. The frame is made by Bilato of Italy, who also builds for for example Ciocc.
Features:
advanced Columbus tubing (SL, SLX or TSX)
chrome fork and tail
nice engravings on top fork crown
sophisticated 'open' bb shell/cluster
internal brake cable routing
Seattube: 55cm c-c
Toptube: 560mm
Rear spacing: 130mm
braze on for front mech
braze on for race number under toptube
Condition:
It is a used frame that falls short for concours winning example, but is great for casual riding, commuting and so on. Chrome is very good and paint is quite good. Expect scratches and chips here and there. Only more serious bummer is a little rust at the entry of the brake cable. The former touched it up with silver. Can be made much better looking after a cleaning and touching up with white, as the surrounding area is white. Good thing is the place is not so very well visible, due to its position left under toptube. Structurally the frame is 100% sound. View pictures to form your own opinion. I took many.
Comes with:
The frame can be acquired with the nice condition Italian bottom bracket pictured. The headset is not included.
