Is it not possible to shim out the clips, by placing strips of something between the pedals and the clips?
-
• #3
Or XL MKS Clips - worth a punt at 8.99
-
• #4
Even the XLs dont quite do it, still gives me dead toes after not too long

i can get my feet in mine, but they dont go far enough forward, so im almost pedalling with my toes,
is that the same problem as you?
although size 15 is abit excessive -
• #6
Perhaps a bit of hardwood between the pedals and the clips then, with longer bolts?
-
• #7
You tried long bolts and a few washers on the Xls?

Bang! Jinx! etc. ;]

although size 15 is abit excessiveYeah thats the problem i have with cages, get very uncomfortable very quickly! Have you ever tried holdfasts as they look kind of small?
As much as i love SPDs for mountainbiking or velodrome i really like being able to cycle to the pub or into town then not have to bring spare shoes (size 15s take up a lot of bag space). The washering and spacering does make sense but i think i would still have trouble with the width and getting dead toes.

no, ive looked at them before though, but also, even with my current straps if got some toe-to-wheel overlap
so holdfasts wouldnt be too good, im saving up for SPDs. -

Perhaps plastic clips that have a bigger toe section? Work much better with trainers in my experience

Bikeplus have Sidi Eagle 4s in size 16/51 for £45 according to the website.
Though that might've been from a while ago. http://www.bikeplus.co.uk/

I'm size 13/14 normally and have the same trouble with MKS Sylvan touring pedals and XL cage combo. Don't really think there is any solution, I just go for Time Atak and Sidi Dominators these days. Find a new t-shirt and shoes in the bag makes for the best cycle/pub combo, but I am a sweaty bastard.

Well I never thought I would say it but those eagle 4s might actually be to big!

Nah like most cycle shoes Sidi fit one or two sizes smaller. I've used 49 and 50 in Sidi, so at a guess the 51 would be about right for you. There is a Sidi size chart somewhere online that you can print out and measure your foot against to check.
Edit: There you go http://www.sidi.com.au/sidi-size-ruler.pdf
.....they need big toe clips.
I have size 15 plates of meat and have been using a V8 homemade webbing belt powergrip combi but i have a new bike and it frankly looks a bit shit on my nice new steed so would like to get something 'proper'.
I have never been able to find big enough clips and straps and i dont think they exist and the other obvious choice is Holdfast (or similar straps) but i just think they are way too expensive for what they are! If anyone has a similar problem or knows any good solutions then let me know.
