Roadworks in London

Is it me or is the superhighway appear to be on hold? it look like they've painted it, and then decided to leave it half completed by having a long teas break with no end sign of completion.

They are just testing on textures and traffic behaviour. It is not officially open until the end of July so plenty of time. I have heard that one of the paint textures rips tyres or that might be an urban myth.
