Data is always a plural really, it's used as a singular to describe a group, but that's kind of a plural right? It sounds good as plural.

"The data clearly shows a trend... The data doe not support these conclusions..."

I like

data point is the only specific singular use, but it doesn't really matter. Why not reclaim datum.
