Why not just obtain a hub already with a QR skewer?

wheel is already built up and on the bike. was just hoping to swap it over to qr if possible

What do you need QR for? Pitlock? If so, there are pitlocks for bolt-on apparently, though I've never seen them.

You can't make your hub QR without some drilling, cutting, filling etc...
There is really no point. -

ok sounds like more hassle than its worth. I rarely lock my bike anywhere but I often have to sling it in the back of the car, was just looking for a lazy answer to using a spanner

This thread is useless without pictures of your weak arms that can't weild a 15mm spanner.

Wonder what the forces required to nip up a track nut with a 15mm spanner are like compared to closing a qr.
Also, i reckon that on a fork with lawyer lips i could easily fit/remove a nutted wheel faster than qr. -

Yawn.

How big's the axle on a front Formula hub? Assuming it's 9mm surely you can just whip out the solid axle and whack in a QR one using all the same cones & locknuts from the original axle? 5 min job?

no because its sealed and sealed hubs generally have axles unique to the manufacturer. they have lips.

Fuck those guys!

Just buy a 15mm spanner and leave it in the back of the car. If that is the only time you take your wheel out then it will alsways be to hand. Easier and cheaper than changing to QR (even if that could be done)
can i change my front blb hub to take a quick release skewer?
anyone with half a clue know as i have none
