horatio - how did you get on? i've got my bike in bits trying to fit 9 speed ergo's using 8 speed rear sprockets. have used 9 speed spacers and have a 9 speed rear mech, but time is the limiting factor.
sheldon brown has a crib sheet, so you can see exactly the difference
as far as i am aware, there's only 1 type of campag 9/10 speed freehub. 8 speed is different (shallower splines)
