rare color for a gazelle
Looks like one of their standard colours, Bordeaux Red.
Gazelle never did colours that were not in their range. On the other hand, they had many colours to choose from and you could basically any colour and all combinations from that range. That was one of their best features, together with the options of braze-ons and custom geomeries. When I started racing, approx. 50% of the peloton was riding Gazelle.Indeed, not the most ordered colour, lots have been repainted afterwards, because this paint didn't hold well on the frame.

hmm ok thanks. but its not the bordaux red i know of gazelle, its a little more to the brown side. its repainted in the gazelle factory.

Pretty sure it's Bordeaux red though. Don't you mix it up with Amstel red 70, one of the most common colours ?
Perhaps I misjudge it from the pics...BTW: who was it you knew: Roefie, Beumer, Kendall, Gert Jan, Tiny... ?
