  • O.k, its autumn, long nights and introspection. Lets have a Dub thread,
    starting with these favourites:-
    YouTube - Mutabaruka---Dis Poem

I just had to requote this. It's marvellous!

new mix available to d/l.. comments appreciated!

  • [ame="http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1846713/4_aces_club/"]4 Aces Club - Video[/ame]

Take a look at this little promo for a feature film made recently, about an old club in Hackney, now demolished.

The film will one day be seen, at the moment in legal limbo. Winstan managed to screen it a few times when it was first finished, and a few people from the forum saw it. An interesting place that some of us may remember, either as a roots club or as a ravers' venue.

  • The Bobby Konders track with the Mutabaruka verse is well style too

    @Skully -nice, thx for posting
@*M.F - Have you still got that Studio One film (the Soul Jazz one?)

  • Cheers J.

Wrong thread man, this is Dub Roots Rock Reggae instead of Dubstep.

  • Wicked video skully, that Shaka footage looks tasty.

Right I just bought 4 tickets for 09/07, me, skully, monko and one other lucky person . standing- at the front near the left hand stack, o.k I made that up but they are standing.

it aint the Four aces for sure, but we can have a laugh and a good skank.

Great film Skully, bless him! think he got the word 'energy' mixed up with 'ecstasy' when he was on about labyrinth tho, phewwwwww.
Eightballs -yep still got me Studio 1 film ya want it?

  • Copy it for me dude, only ever watched half of it.

Talkin' bout films, what is the name of the reggae film with The Clash in?

  • And me if you're feeling nice ;)

Not sure which one you're talking about but a couple of greats are: The Harder They Come, Rockers, Babylon, Land of Look Behind which has Marley's funeral in it which is fucking amazing. There are more but I can't remember them all.

Yes M.f. either Flxhq or Spaynem will snap them up, how much do I owe you?

  • lets call it Jah love, will keep it til then for ya, and someone can come in later for £ for last one.
am uptown (ranking) tommorrow, but will have a go at copying sunday or sometime soon, really worth being a supporter of sounds of the Universe though, souljazz the best outfit around.

  • I just realised I might be in Amsterdam at the time! Will check out tomorrow and let you know.

  • Free download of a full album of Mos Def v dub - this has to be checked out:

    http://mosdub.com/

Including the obligatory 007 (Shanty Town) mix - in my own opinion Desmond Dekker is the grandmaster of everything ska.

And back to dub, here's the Yellowman classic for good measure:

  • Nice, just looked that the dates and I come back on the 8th so will be there for it. How do you know Channel One is playing?

  • psychic ability of course

  • ad in the grauniad. should be tops. cool that youre back.

  • I don't know how I'll be feeling after 5 days in Amsterdam, King Shiloh is based there I think. Hopefully they'll be a sound night around the time we're there.

  • As monko said.. I'd nab one.

  • Just to let you all know. Matsu Restaurant on Mile End road (where I work) has a reggae/dub night each saturday from 8pm til 2am run by "Reggae Revelution". Its not a big venue, being a restaurant normally, and has only been going a couple weeks now but its got a good vibe and is picking up in popularity. Entrance is £4 and drink are around £3.50 for a beer/ shot+mixer. I might give you a discount if you say you're from the forum.

  • Sounds good, although I'm very far away from Mile End, might come up one day to say hello.
