Custom forks suggests something bespoke, out of the ordinary, something a bit like these;
not necessarily to everyone's taste, but that's kind of the point. If your mate did have these custom made, why? Forks like this are readily and cheaply available, you'd have to be a bit daft to get them custom built. It'd be a bit like going to Saville Row and spending a couple of grand on having Huntsman make you a knock off of a George at Asda suit. But I guess, each to their own.
