  • I have raised the subject of my first thread previously and often when dealing with noobs.

    I am a shameless cunt, so its water off a ducks back. Very few of us have an immaculate history here, we all make mistakes, get it wrong etc. Its about how we proceed from that point.

    Does someone criticising you leave you all upset or are they pointing out there may be an alternative way to respond?

    You may notice that I did not get upset when Clefty suggest i use the search. I actually used the fucking thing. I followed the advice and survived.

    I came along, got flamed and also got the answers I was looking for. Strangely I found myself being roasted amusing, a number of the posters on that thread I now consider friends - though fuck I was frightened of "Clefty" when i first joined!

    I thought my initial advice on this thread was perfectly pleasant but it was thrown back at me. Part of any learning curve is going and doing research, it wont all be spoon fed to us. Frequently the reading around a topic will broaden and strengthen our knowledge, so reading a few threads on chain tension may actually increase your overall knowledge and teach you about the maintenance, why chains might slip, the dangers of a loose chain, the mechanical inefficiencies of an overly tight chain ...
