You didn't know who Sheldon Brown was. That's a bit of a fail. This is not about being elitist, it's about really basic research. DJ tried to help you out and as a little noob (like me) you have to take it on the chin if you get told to UTFS.

Take everyone on? it certainly wasnt my intention? not even sure i did 'take everyone on'?

Im happy to take it on the chin if he was right but i did UTFS and couldnt find anything so i asked, maybe people also need to generally be a bit more chilled.

but yeh I'll continue to read sheldon brown and thanks to asking the questions i learned to look on that site, not sure how or why i would have ever heard of it otherwise.
