British standards on frame alignment is 3/4mm. So one mechanic reading 3mm as being borderline but still ridable within standards can differ from another reading this as on the edge of acceptability but a write off. In that instance it's a matter of experience & circumstance.
TBH if the bike is full carbon throw it out anyway, while perhaps being within standards it could be fatigued internally.
