Yeah, do see your GP. It's so easy to injure yourself and have it turn into a lifelong problem. You think your body will heal properly but it doesn't always heal up back to the way it was :)
I came off a motorcycle last year and had some discomfort under the ball of my foot where the bike fell on me. It hasn't healed properly, after 15 months. I have about 95% functionality on that foot now. Means I can't run for very long without it being quite painful, or tiptoe properly. In retrospect, I should have gone to hospital, had an X-ray done, and got some proper medical advice.
