I have a Grubb numbered 2640 which I believe to be early 50s, shortly after Holdsworth took the Grubb Marque on.

I have some pics but quite rusty (thats the bike not the pics) and a bit embarassed as it has not been looked after, so feel a bit guilty.
Thanks for all the pointers have sent some mails so wait on responses.
Thanks

Still, take the pictures of the rear dropuots and the lugs. Don't worry about the rust. It's superficial.

Not sure if this will work but here we go, any info would be great. I have put some Kroil (penetrating oil) in the stem to try and free it off....don't want to start hammering too much. I would like to try and keep the handlebar bracket if possible.

I don't know, but it looks legit to me, judging by the lugs.
You should go on one of the vintage forums and ask for help.
Definitely worth sandblasting and full restoration. If you need a headbadge and decals go to http://www.hlloydcycles.com/ , although I think your frame is older than the exact badges Nick have.

Thanks again for the reply,
I was going to wait and find out a year before i went for headbadge etc. I saw one on Ebay recently and reluctently didn't bid as I wasn't sure it was right. I am not going for a full blown period restoration but if I can get all the frame stuff right colour etc then I would be happy.
Cheers

i have also been given an old Freddie Grubb, yet to investigate, needs some tlc but joined on here to help its revival, any good knowledge or parts links would be appreciated?
Hi guys,
I have a Freddie Grubb given to me when I was a teenager from my uncle who was a keen cyclist, road racer etc. I believed it to be a track bike at some time although my uncle had fitted 5 gears on it for me. The bike was given to me more than 30 years ago. It has a frame number of 5289 which is on the rear wheel lugs. I am going to get it cleaned up and sprayed the original colour. It doesn't have a head badge and all that is fitted now is the forks and seat post. I am having trouble getting the stem out but looking at other posts this could be a bit of bother. A friend of mine who is really keen on his old bikes is going to give me a hand with bits etc. Any info would be great.
Cheers,
Archieb
