i think chains in innertubes look shit, even though this would take 10 seconds to cut with garden secateurs it still looks better than a black turd coming out of the back of your saddle wrapping its self around your frame.
Ball bearings are the best option, then seat saver cables.
sounds a bit stupid, but as long as you dont want to sell it or change it ever its fine. I'm assuming youve also welded your seatpost clamp?
