I'm looking for a mini pump. Has anything decent appeared on the market since the new year that hasn't already been mentioned?

My beloved planet x co2 pump just broke and they don't sell them anymore. Any suggestions for a hybrid pump so I can validate the 30 odd co2 cartridges that I recently bulk bought? A similarly small profile would be a real bonus as the planet x one fit inside my vans tool pouch.

Ordered. Cheers for the link!

Stupidly small and light, yet work surprisingly well, 100psi isn't a problem, unless you want to try 140 which will get tricky.
downside is that it take a while to get to 100psi, but it's nice to have something small in a saddlebag with patch kits, tyre lever and spare innertube.

I've got one of these. Fits in one of those tiny Conti tube+lever saddle bags you can buy. together with some Parks pre-glued patches.
Saves you calling a cab if you get a puncture, by causing multiple heart failiures during the effort required to get to 110PSI, and leaving you requiring an ambulance.
To be fair I did get it to 110PSI and the valve is nice for such a cheap/small pump.

Is there any reason for wanting to get a tyre to 110 PSI? Surely you just need it hard enough* to get to the next bike shop**.
- Waheyyyy.
** Unless you're on a grown up bike ride in the country on a Sunday morning, that is.
I just did it to test the pump (and my fitness, as it turned out).
I run a 20mm front tyre on my fixie skidder, and live a bit 'out-of-the-way'. So need to be able to reach say 90PSI, in case I'm far from home.
- Waheyyyy.

^^ Is it just that you have to pump for a long time, or is it also hard work?
Something that size is really tempting. Altho, after trying those little canister things it'd take a lot to convert me.

Its pretty low volume, so pumpinp takes a while, and becomes pretty tough as you approach higher PSI. The decent valve fitting does take some of the stress out though.
Basically its a third pump. Track pump with meter for home use, mini pump for commuting and of practicall cycling duties, and micro pump for road rides.
I actually bought the pump instead of a CO2 solution, because CO2 canisters bugger dolphins or something. Thats what TommyTheBrick told me anyway.

OK. I think I'll stay away then.
You/TommyB are prolly right, they're about the right size to get stuck in a dolphins blow-hole. But I think I'll just justify it by saying it depends on how many you use.

But if its hardly being used, then it would'nt hurt having a tiny, if work intensive, micro pump.
That was my thinking.
Think of the baby seals, man!

or get one of these
only 170mm long, does a 100psi only 86 grms, a real pump with a hose, so you won't bend the valve

I've had a Crank Bros Power Pump for three years now and it's been great. The hi/lo pressure setting thing really helps. I just always take the wheel off when pumping to save the valve stem.
At home I've got the top end (£15?) Decathlon track pump which is excellent.

I want a new on the go pump.
My leyzne one, same as 3 posts above. will only go to 60psi or so, and that's with me squezing it every bit for 5 mins. It's naff as. Or my arms are weak!
Maybe mine is too small?Happy to go full frame if I need to.
Can anyone recommend something that will pump to 100psi?????

If you are happy to have a full frame pump then I would say one of these:

My cheap as chips pump will do 100psi with what I think is relative ease. It's the same as my old Aussie Axiom SprintAir but I can't recall the name. Just rebadged something-or-other. I was going to get one of those LeZynes too.. fml

Just to add to that post. A re-branded/shop branded one came on a bike I bought off ebay.
It's excellent. There is a high pressure knob on the bottom, so to fill the tyre you use one setting, then when the pressure is higher and it's hard to pump you switch to the other setting.
It is robust and the ends mean it should fit well in most frames (it came on a modern alu frame)
I didn't realise they were so cheap. Would definately buy another if I needed it.

OKay I'll look into that.
Hippy I tried again this morning, I got to 60psi with every ounce of baby strength my arms had. It's useless.

I know it might be a little expensive but I use the lezyne Micro Floor Drive pump, which is pretty good and a good build.
-
• #72
What psi can you get?
-
• #73
That floor one is big. Wide and long!
Shame the slim small one is shit.

Hippy I was in Balfes earlier and the dude reckond my leyzne was a dud, so he's going to warrenty it for me. Super nice shop. So get one yourself and see, just return it if it's crap.

I've got the same leyzene pump as skinny, and mine is also shite. 60 psi is about it and I have at least toddler strength arms.
