  • I wanna play too!

A bunch of Hot weather Franklins, got that. But not AGS?

  • Right. The AGS is supposed to make the ball feel more like a hockey puck. They are filled with liquid to slow the movement, make them sort of drag, and prevent them from raising off the ground too easy. Also, I'm not sure the UK climate really warrants red balls? I know they say they are for 20 degrees or over or something, but I think the orange are just as good until around 30 celcius. Different people like different ball play though. Personally I don't like the ball to bounce around like a steel bearing on concrete

  • alright, looking into getting poles for mallets. How come no one seems to use carbon fibre? I see some ski poles are made of carbon but I cant recall seeing a mallet made from it. Any particular reason?

  • Hmmm... carbon - great at absorbing impact!

  • There were some graphite mallets, mine and Ste's got shattered into oblivion, although Hannah says hers is graphite and that seems to last pretty well.
If you find some cheap 7075 alu ski poles tell me?

  • Hannahs was a Graphite golf club... which is a different material to carbon fibre.... think it's slightly less brittle...

DRB... please do try a Carbon Fibre pole.. be interested to see how quickly it breaks...

  • Ste's graphite only lasted a week or so didn't it, same with mine/Globs

yeh there not strong enough, they last for a while but then just snap

  • yeah but at least they were cheap... aren't carbon fibre poles about £50 for 2... You could get some REALLY good Scott aluminium poles for that.....

  • those hockey balls with water in are a good idea, but in practice they are awful to play with.

my favourite is the orange light ones, you can pass them and shoot with them more easily and they hurt less when you are hit by one.

however the red franklins seem to have become the accepted worldwide standard.

Paul, just get some of these then. Red but not filled with anything

  • Em and Ray both had have carbon sky poles, they lasted a sunday in the first case and a couple of weeks in the second, no worthy.
In the other hands, Andy Lewosky, play with graphite golf clubs and he swear by them, from time to time he breaks one, but the same as you will expect sky pole to break. He bought 6 or 7 in the bay for £20, so not bad deal...
Also, Scott ski poles are not always 7075, so dont get any Scoot thinking is going to be good.

  • Yeh, mine are graphite n fine, i run over them a lot too n nowt seems to happen. only one i've broken was actually in the pub when it got wedged through someone else's frame. They're kinda bendy though so it depends whether that'll annoy you or not.

  • some people still up for teaching how to make mallets and wheel covers and how to play polo at the bicycle bee next monday?

  • I'm happy to help if I am free, but it's all about the dissertation at the moment.I'll only be in Owens Park cluster thoguh, so could probably pop over for an hour or so. do you have mallet materials./

  • nope i can't remember who said they'd do it. but they said they'd sort it all out. i wasn't given a time but that would be useful
