Hey all, i know this is the 'for sale' forum but i'm based in newcastle and fancy a fixie for round town. I am completely brassic so need something cheap. Are the 2010 creates really as bad as everyone says?
Cheers
Spend a few extra quid and get a fuji track, the 2010 models are looking pretty nice http://www.all-about-the-home.co.uk/fuji-classic-track-bike-2010-white---fully-assembled--free-delivery-3854-p.asp Or you could build up a cheap conversion, recyk y'bike should be able to get you off to a good start.

The fuji track looks gorgeous. It's a ton more though which is the problem. I'm not sure about building one, fancied just buying an otp to see how much i enjoy them then build a classic later in the year.
So are the creates a no no or worth the money? -
• #205
10000% avoid Create. You'll just have to replace everything in time, false economy. Utter shit.

Building up a bike doesnt meen you have to build up a classic, you'll learn alot whilst building it aswell.

Man speaks the truth. Best way to learn by far, I don't get people who ride and have absolutely no clue how to fix a flat / adjust anything on their bike. Bit of reading, bit of fiddling, and let the fun follow !

I too was looking at the create's until i stumbled across this forum looking for reviews. From what i have read, stay away although they do look very nice to the untrained eye.
I am in the sameboat, what to try fixed wheel riding but have a very limited budget. Anyone fancy swapping a hardly used Hoffman BMX for a beater?
The rason why i dont want to spend alot is the same reason i have a hardly used BMX! Seemed a good idea at the time.
Is recyk y'bike a shop? Just about to google it.
Cheers

Life's too short to be riding new bikes

Dunno... that wouldn't solve the it not being round thing? Plus I dont have one of those tools to put it on, but I do have an allen key to replace a chain ring.
Would it be easier/cheaper to just get a bigger cog instead?

your probably better off looking round some surplus shops, i would imagine that most would be replicas, not too many people keen to part with real ones. the surplus shop next to the fire station on northumberland street might be just the ticket. or ebay, but they might pull your pants down on the price like, probably trying to attract collectors.

hadn't thought of that mate. you'd think some one would convert them into cycle helmets then sell them, it would make a tidy profit i'm sure.
ebay is a rip nowadays, long gone are the bargains -

OK, so I've snapped another leather toestrap so have decided I need some doubles(Ideally brown). Oh, and some chrome toeclips (pref double clips for double straps) And if anyone has some tasty pedals to attach them to, I might be interested in those. Otherwise I'll just use the Lyotard style pedals I've got kicking around. This is for the recently restored Viking so must be in reasonable condition. Thanks. Beer tokens or swaps await.
