  • There's a reason for the tendency for hyped films to disappoint; (that is, besides the increased expectation).

    It's a typical hollywood business model. Make a film on a reasonable budget, pump the promotions so much that you take 10 times the budget of the film in the opening weekend before the film inevitavely dives when people realise how shite it is. It's reproducable without having to rely on the integrity of the content, which cost lots for talent and can be hit and miss.

    Although often people just swallow the hype. Of course, they've also moved on to building francise pictures with sequals and spins off as another means of guaranteeing big returns.
