Not sure if you can supply the normally water-tanked things with mains due to pressure differences. Best asking a plumber, but as every house I have ever lived in or even seen the plumbing of uses the tanked set up, I doubt it. My old man works in a Plumb Centre, I'll ask him.
What head of pressure do you get from your current cold water tank? (how high up is it?)
The last flat I lived in had the cold water tank on the same floor so if I actually held the shower head above my head standing up, the water would stop as it was above the water level in the tank, utter pants. Our current flat has it's tank 2 floors above us so there's pressure galore!
