They've finally(after about 10yrs) sorted out that shitty bit of road at Waterloo from the lights at The Old Vic all the way up to the IMAX, in BOTH directions! Lovely and smooth now :-)

There's a shitload of roadworks on my commute.
The irony is that a lot of it (such as those on Brixton - Oval) is enabling works for the Cycle Hire Scheme!

they've made a right dog's dick of that junction
excellent

They're slowly but surely finishin the shite on Waterloo Bridge Rd northbound and after about 15yrs finally the top of Brixton Hill southbound from the lights @ New Park Rd - Christchurch past Sainsburys. That bit's been wank for too long

They've messed up the park entrance - the architects plans / representation had that little triangle planted with trees. Now there's one, and an ugly phone box stuck in the middle. As you say, that bus / cycle feeder lane will be a death trap, unless the phasing on the lights is done correctly.
Well the phone box has disappeared, but the route from Dulwich Rd to Half Moon Lane still looks like a death trap, not least because they've somehow managed to squeeze an extra third lane into space that was bad enough with just two!

Surely impossible? Bike hire scheme ends at kennington.
Blue paint, of course, continues further down, inconveniencing everone for zilch gain. BLUE PAINT!!!

I was in an ASL this morning at a red light. A skip lorry drove up and joined me occupying the remainder of the ASL. He could easily have stopped where he was meant to. As a consequence, I took the only safe option open to me and having checked for traffic moving with a green light, proceeded to jump the red light. I was rather hoping to be stopped by the police but sadly was not. Perhaps I should have photographed the lorry and reported it but, by the time I could have got my phone out of my bag, the lights would probably have changed.

ASL boxes are neither respected by other road users or enforced by the police, they are a waste of paint

If I find a car/lorry/van stopped in a ASL I make a point of stopping bang in front of them.

They are frequently not respected by the police themselves. I would have enjoyed being given a ticket this morning. I would have fought it.

+1.
In the summer I particularly enjoy striking up a conversation with the occupants who have sun roofs open or tops down. My best was to a twerp in a sports car with a pretty girl next to him. "You really ought to have your daddy buy you a smaller car that you can actually manage." She laughed. He reversed out of the box.

+1 again. Idiots.
I especially hate it when the scooters and motorcyclists get in on the act.

You'd have to record it 'sauntering' into the green box and not just stopped in it. Some cops will tell you it has not been updated in the highway code yet and as such can not be enforced!

They are painting them blue on the super cyclehighway thingies......
-
• #42
I like blue. It's better than red, or green.
-
• #43
Is it me or is the superhighway appear to be on hold? it look like they've painted it, and then decided to leave it half completed by having a long teas break with no end sign of completion.
blessing in disguised perhaps.

I ask people if they are on a bike when they are stopped in the asl in a van car on on a motorbike They look confused.
"is that a fucking bike, or are you fucking retarded?" is generally the 2nd line of questioning.
I asked a police van the same without expletives and was told to fuck off. He turned pale when I quoted his registration number and apologised profusely.

The ones on the junction of clapham high st. and union road seem to be reverting back to their original green...

They are just testing on textures and traffic behaviour. It is not officially open until the end of July so plenty of time. I have heard that one of the paint textures rips tyres or that might be an urban myth.

I thought that already exist (paint textures ripping tyres), if you do a long skid on those paint, your tyres will wear out faster than you can said "Randonneur".

their grippy surface shreds tyres, and skin no doubt...

i know they're not roadworks, but anyone getting pissed off at the motorbike protests against parking tax? It's every fucking wednesday morning and clogs down most of the west end.
Waterloo has been 'worked on' for months now - totally crazy. Should have just closed over whole weekend and get it done. It's not rocket science to lay tarmac and the more they hang around half-finished with associated new layouts and bollards etc, the more likely accidents are to occur. A case in point was down on Peckham Rye west side, junction with I think it's called East Dulwich Grove (or road), temporary lights made the junction even more dangerous and snarled up, hardly ever saw them working on it over a period of weeks and possibly months, and then a ten year old schoolgirl was killed crossing there.
And what happened?
Later same day they had a team working there into the evening and got it finished in a matter of hours. I might be a cynic but that really takes the gateaux, and in some part I've no doubt, this terrible mess contributed to the girls death with people jumping short temp lights, obfuscated vision etc.
Disgusting. Honestly. How hard can it be to fix these things.
