i'm going to try pulling the cogs off a 6/7-speed freewheel and just putting 2 back on with spacers to make a polo gear/street gear combo for a 7-speed wheel. anyone done this before? any suggestions on which brand of freewheel to start with/avoid? looks like most are stepped, and the middle step runs 16-20 tooth cogs, so i'd like to find a freewheel that i can move bigger cogs to the middle if possible.

I've done it, it's OK, but you need good chain tension else the chain will ship on the ramps. Also, narower cogs, running alone and not bolted through the whole cassette, can dig into the freewheel body and mess it up, I now run a Surly cog that is extra thick at the splines, so that it doesn't dig in.

dan i haz freewheel to durace fixed/fixed.

gabes which brand of freewheel did you use and what were the cog size options? i'm eyeing a sunrace 7 speed which i think would let me do 20 and 16
edit: or else a IRD which has the spacers on each cog which should solve the issue you described

[/QUOTE]If you can settle for 170mm, SJS cycles sell Sugino XD WITH 2 steel rings for £25. They're "unbranded" on the website but come stamped as XD on the back http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Unbranded-Alloy-Compact-Double-34-50-170-mm-Steel-Rings-Chainset-13441.htm

Hey guys, i want some hi-res images of your polo bikes to put in my BFF film this year. They need to be hi-res at least 1024x576 square pixel. There will be a section in the film where we flick through teh bike rapidly so as many as poss, old / new its all good.
While were here can you also email me hi-res photos of scabs / injuries. i know gabes has a few but any others would be great, same idea with that. email is

I always have some wounds you can use B, I could pick the scabs off all fresh like?
Currently: Back of right hand, left mid finger, left arm, bruised right elbow, split chin, chipped teeth (won't photo well), scabby left shin, bruised right hip?

I need to take the pictures? I don't have the hardware... maybe someone will help out later tonight.
Hops has the split chin, the others would probably pale in comparison anyway.

Who is using the DNA v brake mount plate? Be interested to see how you fixed it on.
-
• #2296
Bolt through the brake bridge, jubilee clips around plate and rear stays (and I'm going to add a few cable ties for good measure when I get round to it).
Use a bunch of little bits of an old innertube and some tape to stop your frame getting mashed up by the plate.

That's it? OK cool, I thought people had rigged up something more elaborate.

looks rad froggy! but that machine on the right looks like it could be very dangerous in my possession..

it is dangerous indeed
Tis no problem at all Dan, just screws on the same as the fixed hub but no need for the lockring.
