Was leaning more toward the 1st rear, or any one got anything on offer or can suggest an alternative no more than £60 ??
    Cheers

  • Was thinking secondhand too, but being in Essex collection would be a bit of hass, unless they could be posted......

But interested anyone got anything to offer..... by the way the frame is for 27" but have tried wheels from my Raleigh, and they fit with close clearences (due to mudguard spacing /tourer)

  • Hi there

I have also been thinking about these but had seen bad reports on several forums and have now come to the conclusion that spending around £100 is going to give better results.

also longer term i'd rather have a better wheelset so that If I like this fixie business then I can use them on a better frame as time goes by

there are some nice weinmann wheelsets available from parkers for around £100

    just my thoughts

    cheers - Tb

  • definitely wouldn't recommend them. I know someone who bought the rear wheel and the hub threads stripped within two weeks

  • We sell the first wheel in cyclesurgery for about £50, with the sprocket and lockring. Its ok, quite a light wheel actually, but the rim is fairly basic, as are the bearings.

The factory is a bit shit at correctly adjusting the cone nuts on the bearings, so when we get wheels into stock the bearings are almost always overtightened. It's a 5 min job to adjust them, but it requires a set of cone spanners. I always take the wheel to the kurwa mechanic and say "hey, cieciu, fix this kurwa wheel now" before selling one to a customer. Otherwise bearings will wear out quick.

  • +1 for the bearings

After a couple of thousand miles they will look like mine.

  • haha all polish mechanics say is kurwa mac!

  • O well guess you get what you pay for so maybe not, guess will have to join the dibs scrap for and used better ones that come up on here or...........anyone had the same issues with the Halo track rear ??? could probably get some discount out of my LBS

  • halo ones will do you fine, as will system x, on-one, zenith
