    Thanks

  • one frame on hold which is the smoked grey(gunmetal)

  • both nice

  • i went into his shop when i was about 10.
just over the road from the cinema (now the eurostar carpark) it wasn't even a shop just a small single story brick building with a counter and the workshop behind and a tall chap wearing a workshop overcoat (everyone was tall to me then he could have been 5ft nothing) i wanted some ball bearings to put back in my bike as most of them were lost in the grass in the back garden, i don't think there was any other bike shop in town.
i can't remember much else but the blue in the top picture was the only colour i ever saw a ken james bike painted.
this was 30 years ago and regrettably i never got to order a ken james as cycling wasn't part of my life again until after i hit 30.

  • thanks for the info. I was near where the shop was as i bought the bikes off the original owners an oldish gent and his son in-law.

  • from the shop in ashford? because of the new road layout when they redid the international station i never went past it when visiting my folks and presumed it had gone? did it close recently?

edit:just checked on google streetview and it obviously moved or close ages ago

  • yes the shop is long gone. The frames we purchased from some local riders that were customers there.

  • lovely frames..

    both nice

    Thanks

  • They are gorgeous frames... Someone buy them... Quickly...

  • Smoked grey/gunmetal 55cm frame sold and collected.

  • Someone tallish buy the first one before I put myself on Max Crowe's rack.
