BTW maybe it would help if we start using the locks proper names,
Dumb question ... is the Kryptonite New York M-18 listed under 18mm/19mm on p.1, the same as the "New York LockĀ® LS" on Kryptonite's site?
Parker (http://www.parker-international.co.uk/6771/Kryptonite-New-York-M18-Lock.html) and SJS (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Kryptonite-Kryptonite-New-York-M18-WL-D-Lock-15202.htm) make reference to "18 mm hardened Kryptonium steel shackle" for the M18. But a search at Chain Reaction on M18 returns (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?PartnerID=79&ModelID=28854) with an indication of "16mm hardened MAX-Performance steel shackle" (presumably sourced from the text) on Kryptonite's site for the "LS" (https://www.kryptonitelock.com/OutletProducts/Products/ProductDetail.aspx?cid=1001&scid=1000&pid=1097).
Is the M18 perhaps an older, but more secure (?) (18mm>16mm), version of the LS?
