Yep, I'm running a little low. What you got in mind?

Smoked a D4 last night. Hell of a smoke. Lasted well over an hour.

Mate, did you get my msg about Monday? It's the cigar event we're booked into.

I didn't get your message. Glad I saw the reminder here; I'm still up for it and looking forward to it.

As far as a box split, I'm pretty open to suggestions. I'm going to pick up a few boxes that I fear are being discontinued so I can stock up on them. I'll also want to pick up a few from other varieties as well.

I'll put up some ideas, everyone feel free to do the same.

And we've never ordered Bolivar, which is surprising. In my opinion, you can almost pick any Bolivar and not be disappointed.

I just started listing which of the above I would prefer, and having looked at all of them, I can say that I would be happy with any of/all of them.

If I had to choose, I would probably lean ever so slightly towards the below:

El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme
Saint Luis Rey Serie A
Vegas Robaina Famosos

But like I said, whatever other people are up for is fine.

Edit: Having said that, I would like to stay away from SCdLH El Principe purely because I've tried a few (they're awesome) and would I would like to broaden my horizons a little.

Edie Edit: I have never tried anything from the El Rey del Mundo range, so I would very much like them to be included. Also, what about a Diplimaticos of some sort?

We'll see if other people put up suggestions, but I'd be happy to pick up any of those myself. Those Famosos in particular are great.

ERdM is a popular marca but one that I don't smoke often. I wouldn't mind revisiting them and see what I think of them now. Diplomaticos are a good buy and with the rumoured discontinuation of some sizes, it's a good one to grab now as well.

+1 on ERdM Choix
But i must say Bolivars are by far and away my favs with Partagas just behind.
I will be interested in going in for a box.

Dale and I went to a Cigar event at Boisdale of Belgravia last night. The Main course of the evening was a Trinidad Fundadores. It was well back-up by numerous drams of The Glenlivet - 21 Year Old Whiskey.

I booked this event well in advance (about a month or so), and I think that being an early-bird paid off - the event was busier than expected - probably around 25 people.

Waiters walked around with boxes of Cigars, everyone took one and was asked to light them - the idea was, we were suppossed to get a third of the way into the cigar before we broke out the whiskey.

As soon as smoking commenced, a knowledgeable bloke from Hunters and Frankau began a presentation about the cigar, as well as the line - some of this info was interesting and indeed informative, some resembled Wikipedia regurgitation... A little after the bloke's 25 minute speech ended, a much more lively engaging man from The Glenlivet began a speech about the Whiskey, and the origins of the company etc. This speech was more entertaining (and by this point alcohol was much more prevalent amongst all).

All in all the Event was well worth the £25 each (infact Dale and I got in for £15 each because they were trying to convince me to become a member - plus they had inadvertently messed me about a bit on the phone). £25 covered the Cigar - which is about that from any humidor in London anyway - as well as about 3 doubles of The Glenlivet, and both presentations. Dale and I stayed for 2 hours, but I think you are allowed to stay all night if you so wish (pretty sure the alcohol had stopped being free by the time we left).

The Cigar Terrace at Boisdale is a GREAT place to smoke. It was a relatively cold and wet night, but we remained dry and warm. I would thoroughly recommend it except for the fact that you have to be a member to use it (unless you go for diner - a steak is £45!). We didn't buy any drinks, but I reckon they would have been in-line with the prices of the food... There are more events coming up, the next one is in July - neither Cigar nor drink has been selected. I will post details as and when I find them out. I will be going to the next event, and I'm fairly confident Dale will be too!

Sounds like a nice evening, I will keep an eye on the thread for upcoming events.

Anyway, many thanks to Jamie for doing the legwork and setting this up. It was honestly one of my favourite cigar outings. It's great to be in the company of people who appreciate cigars and the whiskies kept getting topped up.

The H&F people were great. When Jamie had a cigar not drawing properly, they replaced it. It was all an evening designed to enjoy a cigar and a whisky and it doesn't get better than that.

I'll definitely go to another one and anyone who likes cigars would be a fool to miss it.

I've had Robaina with James last month and I liked it (I think Dale gave me a couple as a teaser with the previous order and they were bit on the dry side, so I expect much more from them when properly stored).

I gave you a Famoso? I didn't think I even had any. Sorry to hear it was dry because these are great cigars. One of my favourite robusto sizes, even though I tend to say that about a few.

Is there any interest in another box of Famosos? I got a PM for another spot and will give up one of mine, but would prefer to keep 10, or possibly more, of them. I'll add another spot and if it fills we'll get another box.

From now on though I'm not going to be able to add to the list from PMs. It makes it too difficult to coordinate when I'm supposed to be working.

I think the ones I gave with the caveat were the Ramon Allones because the box got wet.

You might be right, but as a Yank I do have trouble pronouncing it as shite. I did give out a few random bits and bobs that I had so that might be one.

Regardless, these are good, so you won't regret picking them up.

Yep, there's no point to split the hair over it. We will have chance to talk about them this time - after we smoke them.
